A complete list, not a teaser
The most common question we get before a booking is simply "will you take this?" For almost everything a household, office, or job site produces, the answer is yes. Duke's Junk Recycling accepts furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics, yard waste, construction debris, and general household junk at both Central Texas yards and on every pickup route.
If your item is not obviously on the list, text a photo to (512) 520-7495. We would rather answer a two-minute question than have you load something we cannot legally haul.
Furniture and household goods
Couches, sectionals, sleeper sofas, recliners, loveseats, dining tables, chairs, china cabinets, dressers, armoires, nightstands, headboards, bed frames, bookshelves, desks, filing cabinets, entertainment centers, rugs, lamps, and general household clutter.
Pieces in resale condition are set aside for donation whenever possible rather than disposed of — a meaningful chunk of what we pick up finds a second home instead of a landfill cell.
Mattresses and box springs
Every size — twin, full, queen, king, California king — plus box springs, foundations, futons, and adjustable bases. Mattresses are one of the hardest items to dispose of in Austin because most curbside programs will not take them and they consume enormous landfill volume.
We route mattresses to a Central Texas recycler where the steel, foam, and fiber are separated and reused. That is the honest answer to "where to dispose of an old mattress near me."
Appliances and metal
Refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, ranges, microwaves, water heaters, HVAC units, grills, and general scrap metal. Refrigerant-bearing appliances are handled according to disposal rules rather than dumped.
Because metal is recyclable and has value, appliance loads are among the easiest and most efficient jobs we run.
Electronics and e-waste
Televisions, monitors, desktops, laptops, printers, servers, networking gear, stereo equipment, cables, and small electronics. E-waste goes to certified processors rather than into a landfill, which matters both environmentally and for data-bearing equipment.
Office decommissions and school or nonprofit technology refreshes are common jobs for us — ask about bulk handling.
Construction and remodel debris
Drywall, lumber, trim, cabinetry, countertops, flooring, carpet, tile, roofing, siding, fencing, decking, doors, windows, and general demolition waste. Heavy material like concrete, brick, dirt, and shingles is accepted with weight limits and priced separately.
For contractors, this is often cheaper than a roll-off dumpster once delivery, rental days, and weight overages are counted.
Yard waste and outdoor items
Brush, branches, limbs, leaves, bagged clippings, fence panels, old decking, playscapes, above-ground pools, trampolines, sheds, patio furniture, grills, and hot tubs. Storm cleanup is a regular part of what we do in Central Texas.
Shed demolition and hot tub removal are quoted as teardown plus haul-off since they require disassembly on-site.
What we cannot accept
Hazardous waste, wet paint, motor oil, gasoline, solvents, pesticides, chemicals, asbestos, medical or biohazard waste, ammunition, explosives, and pressurized or propane tanks. These require specialized handling that our permits do not cover.
