How junk removal pricing works in Austin
Almost every junk removal quote in Austin comes down to three variables: how much space the load takes in a trailer, how heavy it is, and how hard it is to reach. Duke's prices by the load rather than by the hour, so a slow flight of stairs never turns into a surprise line item.
Drop-off loads are the cheapest path. You haul it in, we price it at the gate by size, and you are back on the road in minutes — usually faster and cheaper than a trip to the Austin landfill once you count fuel, scale time, and tonnage fees.
Drop-off pricing vs. full-service pickup
Drop-off is self-service at either yard: 6546 Burnet Road in Austin or 20301 Hog Eye Rd in Manor. It is the right choice if you already own a truck or trailer, or if you are on a remodel and making repeated runs.
Full-service pickup means our crew comes to you, carries everything out, loads it, sweeps up, and hauls it away. You pay more than drop-off because you are buying labor and transport, but for heavy furniture, second-floor apartments, hot tubs, and estate cleanouts it is almost always worth it.
What can change a quote
Heavy material — concrete, dirt, brick, tile, roofing shingles, and large amounts of wet lumber — is weight-limited and priced separately. Items that require disassembly, such as hot tubs, sheds, playscapes, and above-ground pools, are quoted as demolition plus haul-off.
Access matters too. A ground-floor garage with a driveway is the easiest job on earth; a fourth-floor walk-up with a narrow stair and no elevator takes longer. We factor that in when we quote, not after we finish.
No hidden fees
Duke's does not add fuel surcharges, dump-fee pass-throughs, environmental fees, or card processing fees. There is no minimum tonnage and no commercial account requirement. The number you are quoted by phone or text is the number you pay when the job is done.
If we get on-site and the load is genuinely larger than what you described, we will tell you the revised number before we start loading — never after.
Cheaper than a dumpster rental for most jobs
A roll-off dumpster in Austin commits you to a delivery fee, a rental window, a weight allowance, and an overage rate if you exceed it. It also occupies your driveway for days and may require a permit if it sits in the street.
For a one-day cleanout, a remodel punch-out, or a garage clear, a single Duke's load is usually cheaper and always faster. Dumpsters still win on long, multi-week construction projects where debris accumulates daily — and we will tell you when that is the case.
Ways to save
Consolidate. One larger load costs less than two small ones. Separate clean metal and appliances — they are recyclable and easy for us to route. Break down boxes and disassemble bed frames so the load packs tighter. And if you can drive it in yourself, drop-off pricing beats pickup pricing every time.
Donating usable furniture directly also shrinks the load. If a piece is in resale condition, tell us and we will try to route it to donation instead of disposal.
